Martin and I finished shaping the left rear fender. It came out really smooth and I don't expect I'll need more than just 1mm of bondo to get it perfect. Attached it to the body with 3 bolts, just to get a look. In the end, I'm going to weld the rear fenders to the body.

While I was working last weekend, Martin panel beated/shaped the some little imperfections on the body. This guy is good and everything came out looking great! Things are moving on!

I'd get some LED tail lights if I were you.. That's all you need is for some jackhole to rear end all of that hard work and destroy it.
Speaking of that are you going with the stock tail lights? Please tell me you aren't going for something everyone else is doing like '95 caddy tail lights. Any ideas?

Certainly won't be using '95 Caddy lights. I'm going for 39 Ford tail lights, like what the previous owner mounted. LED may not be a bad option though...........

I think that by welding the fenders to the body it will give it a cleaner look, while I'll still be able to change a wheel. With regards to the body, I hope to have the metal work on it finished in the coming weeks. Then it's on to the doors.....

Man we think alike sometimes, thats what I'm using for my 40. I wanted to put dual 59 caddy tailights frenched into the fenders, but everyone says that is so overly used. I also thought about those new 39 lincoln? taillights but they were expensive. Are you going to french in the 39 ford ones or put them back on like they were before? Looking good.

I'm going to leave them the way they were. I quite like the trim ring, but may need to modify them slightly in order to follow the curved metal.

Are you concerned that the paint will crack around where you weld the fenders to the body? I would think that those front fenders can flex quite a bit if you're driving the car and dealing with less than smooth surfaces. Just my thoughts.

This is something I've thought about as well. After I weld the fenders, I'm going to use lead to smooth out the surface. Then minimal bondo will used to smoothen it out further. Now considering that most of the flex will happen perpendicular to the weld when leaving the starting line at full throttle, a bigger concern is going to be stopping the tires from shredding when 500 horses are unleashed on the relatively narrow 225 tires! Thanks for the thoughts Rock, it's appreciated!

Let me know what tire manufacturer you are going to use so I can buy stock in them. You just might make me some money by hitting that loud pedal.

I've got to tell you your car has inspired me beyond belief. I dig the way the new trend of kustoms is heading where guys actually pay attention to under the hood detail. For years you could find a nice kustom show car and the first time you looked under the under it would just leave a bad taste in your mouth. This car is detailed to the nines and you have actually made me rethink the route I take my current and next project. Thanks for that. I love it.

Thank you for the extreme kind words resqd37Zep. I'm glad my build thread inspires people to take their project to the next level. My car has hopefully shown builders that by determination and a will to learn, almost anything is possible, no matter how limited your skills are. You can achieve more than you think...

UNFORTUNATELY THERE WILL BE NO MORE UPDATES. At least not until I get back from VLV!:D

Just curious, are there any of you guys (and girls) who follow my build thread going to Viva Las Vegas?? Would be great to meet up and have a beer with some fellow Hambers!

I'll be at VLV! Your car is awesome! That car would be hard enough to build here, let alone where you live!

We went over to the Orleans hotel yesterday to get registered for VLV 14 yesterday and saw the first cars roll up to the car park. The weather was great, having a good time! Here are a few pics.
