Thanks for the info! That helped out a lingering issue I've had for gauges. Checked out their website; prices are great, plenty of install info and the Woodward series even has plugs like I wanted to install for ease of removal. I'll be using New Vintage for sure. Mucho Mahalo's!

  2. Dude the firewall and the dash look awesome!!! Love the smoothness of the dash, gauge placement is dead on aswell!

Thank you gentlemen for the positive comments!

  4. I like the 'fillet' piece you did on the upper corners of the recessed firewall. You could have left it squared off (a lot of people would have)....but it wouldn't have looked as good. Nice work as usual!

Thank you drjones96! I needed to cover the hinge support of the hood somehow and keeping with the "flow" of the car, the solution was to round them off. I always like to go for the best solution, which very often is not the easiest way, but very satisfying all the same. Nothing worse than when a car is finished having to say "I should have done it an other way...........". Glad you like it.

That came out nice! I like how the pieces follow the flow of the cowl, adds that much more of a finished touch to it.

What's even better, they are an alliance vendor giving 10-15% discount to Hamb alliance members!

I still needed to make a few supports to strengthen the area between the rear window and the deck lid. I fabricated two small pieces to go between the roof and the deck lid hinges.

Then made an extra support between the deck lid rail and the top of the c-notch. This will add extra rigidity and should make it easier for the upholsterer as well. Welded all in place and cleaned them up.

Planning ahead again...Good Deal. Your project is coming together quite well.

It seem that the other Hambers are on vacation or something, it has been quiet.

I spent most of the afternoon underneath the body cleaning up some welds and sanding......exciting stuff!

Finally the fabrication side of things is now completed. I'm going to get it cleaned up further on monday, followed by sandblasting and epoxy primer on tuesday. I hope to have the body back on the chassis by the end of the week!:D:D:D

I must say it has been a fairly intensive time doing the body work and I'm happy that the body is coming back home. All good things come to an end, I've learned a lot the last 11 months and it's time to take the next step.

Thank you Finnrodder! For some reason the Hamb keeps me continuously motivated in posting my progress. In the long run, it is guys like you (amongst others) that can appreciate the amount of effort that goes in to a project like this. Thank you. Eric.

Thanks Hivolt, that makes two of us! Looking back I realised I've probably spent 5-600 hours on fabrication and body work up to now. Maybe more.....I've lost count. To me it has been a very satifying/rewarding experience and has given me a good insight to customizing a car. And enjoyed every minute of it.:)

Disassembled the frame holding the pedals today......the backing plates need to be filled by 4mm steel in order to have them positioned correctly on the firewall. Took the two pieces to my buddy Jaap to get welded as my welding machine need a new gas regulator......I'm going to weld the assembly in place on monday, just before the body gets blasted and primered. Yes I know, very last minute...

  23. It just keeps getting better and better, tons of awesome work! I recall seeing the car on the evilBay auction and was thinking about grabbing it, but couldn't have done it justice.

Thanks Bob, I'm glad you like the work. I never realised though that I would be performing such an extensive restoration. No regrets though, whatsoever!

    Before and now.......

Eric, now you can step back and say I have a solid platform to work with. Can't wait to see it in color.

The only color it will have by the end of the week is a new coat of epoxy primer.....not exciting for many, but to me it's another step in the right direction.
