    Lookin' good!
Those under-dash, side mounted brake boosters were quite the invention, but usually make for a tight fit! Nice to have them out of sight...

36 ROKIT! I'm glad the brake booster is out of the engine bay, but I'm going to paint it order to cover the gold color. That way it will blend in with the interior. And you're right, it's a great invention!

Got working on the bench seat today. I wanted to test fit it so I know which brackets and supports I need to weld. First had to re-thread so it can accept metric ss nuts and washers. Next I got very creative with aluminium and wood.

I learned that in it's present postion, the bench seat will need to move up 1/2 an inch and that this postion right now, is the most forward one. (otherwise there will be interference with the gear stick) The pedals will need to be moved closer to the firewall and the seat can be widened with foam by 2 inches on either side. Not a very exciting day, but it just needed to be done.

Thanks Plung! I'm planning to mount the column drop on the supporting frame of the brake booster. Those brackets are welded solid to the firewall, so that should be strong enough. But first I need the bench seat in the correct postion before I can determine the column drop position............it's all so logical.;)

It looks much more meaner being one uniform color! How are you not mocking up the front clip? I would be, just to see it look closer and closer to being the finished product.

Oh, and 70+ pages for a single build thread? Definitely worth it to see this beast come together.

Oh I see what your talking about now. That does dress up where your column goes thru the firewall very nicely.

Thank you gentlemen. The reason I'm working on the inside now, is quite simple. Even though I still need to do the doors, grill, deck lid and fenders, I just need a break from metal work/fabrication. This point in time seemed to be the ideal period to change duties. I hope to have most of the mock-up done before the end of the year.

    Eric,
Looking awesome!! She is coming right along, and very nicely. I had to get a few things handled, but have been at my car here and there and all the remaining parts are almost accumulated. Nice work, thanks for the updates!! :p

Thanks Rich! Good to hear you're battling on as well. As for me, I won't be back in the garage until late next week....

Not sure yet...I like something like this, not so much the color, but the style.

Ah, yes! Roll ( the fat part around the edge) and Pleat (the center).
The traditional and best looking design for that type of car.

I have to agree with you RodStRace. These pics give me some inspiration with regards to where I want to go.

    Eric,

Nice choice of course...I would not expect less LOL. I am glad to see that you got all of that metal work done.

Where are you going with the wiring, I think that would preclude the interior?
    Keep up the great build!

Thank you powhatan42! I want to mock up the car now, still including metal work on all panels and doors, and dropping the engine and gearbox in place. The plan is to have it all done before the end of the year. Then it's finally time to tear it all apart and start painting.

Got ya... I did not realize the amount of assembly, and re-assemble was ivolved, but I know now. I can't wait for the final assemble also, but I'm going to be patient and do it right.

eric, I like the interior concept drawing in your post above. I think a 2 tone interior looks alot better than a single color interior(unless it's black). Are you going to chrome the interior window garnishes?

I quite like the two tone as well. The interior is not going to black as I want some "light" in there due to the minimal light coming through the chopped windows. The interior garnish will probably be the same color as the exterior. Choices choices.....

Good news! I was able to get some time off at the end of March 2012, so my buddy Bart and I are going to the GoodGuys Del Mar, CA. Everything has been booked, so it's defininite! If anyone else is going, let me know. Would love to meet up with some Hambers there. (I know March 2012 is still far away.....but hey, we're all ready to go :D:D:D)

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show for today. Spent most of the morning trying to figure out the best way to fabricate the frame for the fuel cell. Test fitted the airride system as well. Due to the limited room underneath the hat shelf, I had to become innovative with regards to space management.

Went and got some tubular steel this afternoon and started thinking/drawing/grinding/welding. Going to continue my masterpiece on monday. Have a good weekend!:)

Cleaned up the garage some more today and turned the car around with the help of some locals. I'm borrowing a friend's crane on monday and going to drop the engine in! Can't wait!:D:D:D:D:D

The idea is to mock up everything but without electrics/brake lines/weather stripping/etc. I just want to make sure everything fits properly and not get surprised after everything has been painted. So it will be a rolling car with nothing connected...After the mock up, I should be able to pull the whole car apart again in a day or two.

Back to the interior theme, Eric; here's something else to add to the "Decisions" list. For a
late 50's-early 60's vibe, use narrow pleats (1-2"). For an earlier, classic look (40's-early
50's, use wider pleats (3-4"). Either way, ya can't go wrong with traditional rolls & pleats!

Good work in the planning and fab depts. Coming together nicely!

Thanks for information and positive comments. Just found this pic of a 35 Ford interior. Quite like this color scheme as well.....even though I would edit a few details to make my interior a bit more traditional.(rolls/pleats). I think I'll decide on the interior colors once the car has been painted.

Thats beautiful. There use to be an offwhite color called Bone that resembles that. I'm leaning toward a rootbeer brown paint when the time comes. I might have to save this picture for future referrence. Can't wait to see the motor in. You're getting there Eric.
