A car this beautiful deserves black! But I wont hate you if you go with the dark grey! Either way its gonna be KILLER!

  2. Eric, this is awesome. I could eat lunch off that hemi, but then it would get dirty. :D
A great gold chainers car, and i mean that in the best possible way.;)
    Catch you at the clubhouse.

    Another vote for BLACK!!

  4. Whatever you decide I know it will be the right decision. You've done a fantastic job on everything else.

  5. Correction... "nothing like the sound of a HEMI V8!

  6. Hey Long Islander - Geez man, go with the '58 A-1 from Eddie Haines! You have a vintage ride - KEEP HER VINTAGE! I have spoken with Eddie about my '58 A-1 and you can have peace of mind knowing you have an excellent block to rebuild - the A-1 block is the MOST desirable hemi! Here's some pics of my hemi for your and other HAMBERS enjoyment!

I'm also leaning towards black. For some reason you can't go wrong with this color. My major concern is if I were to make it dark grey, is that I'm going to say "black would have been even better". (never heard people say, "dark grey would look even better" if it was painted black.) Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know.....still got some time to decide.

  8. Black for sure. Adds to the WTF factor when you blow by a BMW with the Hemi screaming in that sinister looking coupe.

    Eric,

I went to a car show Sunday, and saw a '66 Chevy Chevelle custom car in a gray-black that was Sick. I spoke with the owner and it was a feature car in a major car magazine spread. I can send you photos if you would like. Again it looks slate gray but also looks black at night. A picture is worth athousand words.

All right all you black lovers. I'm leaning towards black more everyday. Here's a photoshop done by Rikster a while back. (a big thank you to Rikster for getting the shape and wheels spot on!). Some minor details will change, but you get the impression. It will be "blacker", not sure on the interior yet and the chrome "heart" shape will be in place. Apart from these changes, the car will look pretty much like this. :D

  20. Not to be a hater of black, but a nice metalic blue would also look fantastic on your car. Regardless of what color you end up going with, the car is going to look great.

As long as the black is shiney. I'm all flat blacked out !!

  25. I've just subscribed to this awesome thread and your project grabbed my attention in two ways: one - that a '41 Plymouth can look so awesome with the right mods. And two - that you are running the mighty 392 hemi that I will eventually shoehorn within the rails of my '31. Eric - your car looks awesome in semi-gloss black! Add some needed pinstriping and the car will continue to be killer! Some guys would like you to go gloss black and if you decide to do this, most likely a metallic that changes color in the light and/or looks different at night. Whatever you decide, it will be the right choice!

No Rob, it will not be flat or semi gloss. It's going to be coated with a few layers of clear. As for the paint, it's going to be either with a very fine metallic or maybe the original Plymouth black. It certainly will NEVER EVER have the r@t rod look.

Thank you 31chevymike for the comments. I checked out your blown 58 392 hemi and it looks amazing! With regards to the color of my car, it will be high gloss. (the photoshop does give the impression it's semi-gloss.) Good luck with your build.

Gloss black would be perfect for your car. There is no need to attract attention by using any other color, the shape and sound will be more than sufficient. Just my 2c. btw, awesome photoshop!

As much as I would love to see this beast in black, I think a dark grey would be more original. I don't know about wheels but I think gloss black wheels, whitewalls, and a dark grey body would be great.

Of course, you can never go wrong with black. As previously mentioned, you'll make the right decision. I have faith in you!
