your doing it the way it should be done, fabricate and replace instead of repairing rusty stuff that can't be saved. nice work.

Thanks Plung. You're right. Do it once and do it good. It did take me quite a while though to get the curvature right but it was worth the extra effort in the long run. These doors should outlive me when I'm done with them!:D

Man those doors are rotten! Keep up the good pace.

Did you get those doors blasted inside as well? Did you also get the bear claw installed on that side yet?

I bet you cant wait to get that car together! Hell... I am getting anxious

Thanks 1959apache. The doors were also sandblasted/primered on the inside. This way I know what I start with. Once I've completed all the metal work on the doors, once again they'll be sandblasted and primered again.

The bear claws have been installed on both doors.

Getting the car together will be next year.........:D:D:D

Fabricated the next piece, which proved to be more difficult due to a different curvature at the bottom. After a couple of hours this is the result. Welding it in this afternoon.

    Eric,

Yes, you answered my questions. Looking forward to seeing how it all works out. I may just invest in the aripod cover for my unit too.

Got the piece welded in after quite a bit of re-shaping, but it was worth it. Still need to fold the lip back, but need to wait till the primer dries. More progress next week......it's off to my real job now.:)

Hey I made the top of the list! Cool! That hasn't happened since detention in junior high school! :D
Seriously though, I think the combination of the sleek lines of the car, the killer drivetrain and your perseverance in "getting it right" are really what makes the thread so popular, especially since this your first "full on" build. Whatcha gonna build next?

  17. I believe we should thank you for allowing us to share in the building of this incredible Plymouth. I've really enjoyed following along and have learned a lot from watching your build.

    Blessings,
    David

Thanks Eric, your build has been an inspiration to me as my 40 dodge is my first full on build of this nature. My previous project was a 1973 roadrunner that I did most of the mechanical work and a little of the body work. It's not everyday you see a mopar of this year getting the full build. Looking forward to see the rest and the freindships being made.

Man.....you are sooo welcome, what a wunnerful build, so detailed it's like being at the shop.
On a side note pilot to pilot.....after I got backseat qualified in 1980 on one of these babies, TA-4J with a pratt&whitney J-52, speed on the ground just isn't the same anymore for me:eek:Not to mention a cat shot is awesome!:D

Thanks Frankie47. Must be awesome to fly one of these Skyhawks. I can relate to your "speed on the ground" feeling. Nothing seems to go really fast anymore.:D:D:D

Yeah, well you haven't had that hemi wide open in top gear on the Autobahn yet either. I 'm guessing you'll get close to take off speed.:D

I'm really honored to be on this list! All I've done is react honestly to what I've seen--this car has gorgeous curves, and the heart of a beast under hood with that bad-ass Hemi. What can I say, it's REALLY easy for a die-hard Mopar guy to dig this build!

Would you call me crazy if I dream about it at times.........all I need to do is look and listen to Jimmy White's Hemi Coupe video and close my eyes. (can't seem to upload that vid from YouTube, but you know which one I mean!)
