Thank you all gentlemen for the thoughtful words. Here's to 2012, the year of completion and noisy Dutch roads!

Thank you for all the details in your build thread, its very inspirational. I just picked up one of these myself. a 40 coupe my plans are not as grand as yours, but I still have a bunch I want to do to it. Your car is awesome..I love the stance..

  3. It really is a cool build and you're doing an extremely thorough job going through all the panels and getting everything exactly the way you want it. It's probably the best looking Hemi I've ever seen too.

Yep, first saw that video a coupla years ago, just went back and watched it again. Talk about ear candy! I don't see why your car would be any different Eric, though maybe a little quieter.:D By the way, what did the engine builder say the red line was?
As for dreaming about it I'd be surprised if you didn't. I know damn well I would if it was mine, probably drive the wife crazy when banging gears in my sleep! lol

These are the two vids I'm talking about......Jimmy White Hemi Coupe and the Brian Bass Hemi Coupe. Both deserve to be played at full volume!:D:D:D Whenever I need some kind of motivation, I watch these:

Eric, do you have the cam specs? Just went back and found your post on the first fire up, (page 19, post 361) and it sounds like you have a pretty healthy cam in there.

I'm not at home at the moment, but I'll look it up when I get back.

Watched them all and I found the first one like 6 months ago when I was looking up hemis after reviewing your thread of all things. Man, what a hell of a ride when he opens that up all the way! It's funny that I look at that one too sometimes when I need to get out there and do something.

Completely off topic, but this vid gets me going on definately the truck and Plymouth sometimes too.. mainly its because its a blast to watch with the music (mainly at 1:14 is when it gets really fun!)

I expect to see a couple of these videos with your coupe too!!!

I can't remember, are you still going with fenderwell headers or are you going with normal headers and dual exhaust, its been so long that I can't recall. I don't mean to ask the same questions, but I can't find the answer in the search function of the thread! When are you going to get that front sheet metal back on it!!! I want a mock up by next week! :D just kidding. As always keep up the good work.

Thanks for the vid 1959apache. I'm going to run normal headers, not the fenderwell's, as those would have been a problem with regards to clearance near the firewall, considering the engine is set back a few inches.

I'm going to finish the doors this year and start on the deck lid. Then I'm going to tackle the grill and the rest of the front end fenders, but that won't be until early next year......

OahuEli, the cam specs as noted on the cam card are:

    .464 intake lift W/226 degrees @ .050 and .479 exhaust lift W/230 degrees @.050 with a 110 LSA.

With the weight of the engine being 480 lbs, a compression of 10:1 and 500 hp, I think there is enough under the hood to move the Plymouth forward.....

Lol I do believe you're right. Ought to have a nice little lope to it at idle too. I didn't realize those engines were so light.

Due to the aluminium heads and the use of some lighter parts inside the engine, the weight has been reduced from a standard 737 lbs to 480 lbs. It's the heads that make the real difference though.

A Hemi that weights under 500 pounds? Daanngg.

You're going to get a lot of head-scratchers when you mention that.

I did not weigh the engine myself, but Eddie at HemiHaines (the builder) stated "a light weight 392 Hemi at a mere 480 lbs." My little scale here at home does not go past 300 lbs.:D:D:D

Today was one of those days where I had lots of plans but got interrupted soooo often, I only managed to do half of what I'd planned. You guys must know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, attacked the lower corner and fabricated a new piece. More tomorrow.

wow! I just joined this site and already spent the whole morning reading all 90 pages of your build thread. I must say that the work is awesome so far. What a car and what a hemi! The perfect combo. In replying to everyone and explaining your stuff with respect, makes you a true hot rodder in my books. Keep up the great work man. Hogman.

I could not agree with you more, and I've only read the first half of this build thread so far. It's not very often you see someone build a car this meticulously. You can build my car anyday farmer12.:D When do you expect to be driving this beauty?

Thank you Hogman. As I've always stated, the positive comments are appreciated. I'm glad you like the build thread. And yes, there's a lot more to come. Thanks, Eric/farmer12
