41 Plymouth Vin number location????

    i just my 41 special deluxe on the road, but i need to take it for a vin verification, but wheres the vin number located?

    I believe it's on the passenger door piller(where the door hinges bolt to the body) between the hinges. Thats where my vin plate is on my 40 dodge. later shawn

    The manufacturer's serial number should be on a plate on one of the "A" pillars just under the top dor hinge. Usually a black rectangular or oval tag with silver numbers. No "VIN" plate as you are used to with modern cars, just the serial number. (that number can tell you when and where your car was built. Plymouth had assembly plants in Detroit, Evanville, Indiana and L.A. California. If you watch 40 and 50 movies you will see a lot of Dodges Plymouths and Desotos due to the close proximity to the prop departments.

    On the firewall there should be a plate with a body number. But since these bodys were built by Briggs Body works, that is actually thier number and not assigned by Plymouth,

    Some states used the engine number which is stamped into a casting boss located on the drivers side of the front of the engine just above the gennerator and just below the head. If it is the engine that came with the car it should start with P12, but many of these mopars had at least one if not more engine swaps.
