We still are having issues with hard steering issues with our 41 willys steering. We have greased it and checked everything. One thing we did discover was the gearbox has only 2 1/4 turns lock to lock. I have someone (expert) to come and tell me what the box is but does anyone have an idea what a manual steer box should have as far as total turns for a car like this I have been told 4 or 5 or even more Thanks Dave

I've got a '39 coupe with the stock front end. Steering is only hard when you're moving slow. I think a lot of caster will make the steering hard too. Are you using a Willys box? They were Ross boxes. If you want to get into more detail contact me off group and I'll try to help you.

Most boxes have the manufacturer's name (Ross, GM, FoMoCo, Gemmer, etc) cast into the box housing.
