Hi guys, I found one of these in California yesterday in the weeds all of the wood is missing and the rear fenders also. It still has the four cyl. and some of the chrome. Did Willys make just one style of Woodie that year ? I am having a real hard time finding any information, it did still have the vin # any help would be great !
This is the intro section, you'd have better luck with that info on the main board. Maybe even post a pic of it here. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=550556&highlight=willys+woody Welcome from AZ!
You SERIOUSLY found a 41 Willys woody? Man, I think you just hit the mother-lode! I've got a few pics I'll add to this post, but if it's a genuine 41 woody, and the information I've got is correct, Willys built a TOTAL of 5 woodies in 1940, and a whole 5 more in 1941, that's TOTAL WOODY PRODUCTION, not models! There's also a thread going at the moment, I think this link will work, about stock Willys daily drivers, and it's got a couple of cool woody pics in it too.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=789243&highlight=willys&page=2 Good luck with it, what an awesome find! (My first car in 1966 was a 41 sedan, so I'm an OLD Willys fan! Cheers, Glen.
So you have me in suspence.......was it a willys, if so were you able to get it...i have three other models and love them.....keep me posted....Thanks Ted N Vegas g***erted@yahoo.com I don't ck here all the time....
If you truly found a Willy Woody you hadn't better waste any time and get that thing. I have only ever seen one here in Maine. The last i knew it was sold and went to California. Once again GRAB IT!!! G***er Girl
Note the Minnesota plate on the tan '41 Woody in picture #3. The Woody belonged to a guy named Maynard, from Michigan. In Minnesota you were required to get new plates every 7 years, even if your current plates were perfect (as were many restored vehicle plates). I don't know where he got that plate, but in the 80's I tried to get that name on my plate for a '38 sedan, but it was already on a '48 Jeepster in a twin cities suburb very close to where I lived. Sometimes those 7-year replacement plates made their way to swap meets, etc. g-willys
Seeing is believing? Let's see some pictures of what it looks like. If it's the real deal then you should jump on it. Just my 2 cents.
I think its this one and its for sale via the below address http://www.boards2go.com/boards/board.cgi?user=willysonline (nothing to do with me, I just received a random email from the seller as I had a wanted ad placed somewhere)
What ever happened on this ? That's a FAVORITE of mine , I can only dream of it . Maybe the new owner want to swap for a Coupe ?
willyscoupe, try sending the OP a personal message - it's unlikely he is looking back here for anyone responding to his introduction post Cheers.
Ya you're right sorry . I did get a hold of the actual owner today and am hoping I can be the next owner of this super cool piece of history ! Can you imagine !?! I might have to add the word wood to my signature lol
That's Great! Maybe since its just the front sheet metal, a phantom woody as a pickup might be interesting?Wooder cab ***y with a metal pickup bed of some sort?
No , its worth too much as an original so I will get it as close as I can to the original . I have lots of other Willys I can customize . I have a 36 Willys I will zap together possibly as a Coupe style Ute . And a few other Willys to have fun with . A rare car like this needs to be fairly close to the original I think .
