  6. Wheelbase is the same on Fords-114"-Business coupes (3 passenger) have short doors(same as the front door from a four door)makes the rear quarters longer and the roofline more laid down from the crown of the roof to the trunklid. Club Coupes(5 passenger) have longer doors(same as a two door sedan) Hence the shorter rear quarters and a more "stood up" rear roofline to accomadate the rear seat passengers.
The difference in look is subtle but noticable.

A little on topic and off...what you said about the family is exactly where I'm at right now. We (I'm lucky in that my wife is into this crazy hobby equally with me) have bought stuff and made plans to build what my idea of my dream 33 Ford roadster is. Can across two that were an excellent starts for the project so we started selling my frame and a Chevelle I have to buy what I will call a jump ahead car. Both deals fell through, and in the mean time have decided that if we (including my 3 year old son that loves cars too, go figure!) are only gonna have one hot rod, we need a 32 or 33 sedan. That way we are included in the fun!

A 32 or 33 sedan would be awesome.

A coupe like this would make an awesome family car. Strap a car seat between the rear rollbars and go!

My luck, he'd reach up and pull the chute!

  13. No-Both style coupes were available 46 through 48-Although Short doors(Business coupes) were a lot lower production are harder to come by today.

  14. Update revised.
Decided to return my car to its original state and am in the process of reinstalling the original banjo rear, and 3 spd trans. I am also putting the shifter back on the column.
Will keep you posted on the progress. Lets see some more cars.
    thanks

Here's mine. Been on the road for almost 15 years. Powered by a 383 stroker with 3 deuces. My kids rode many miles in the back seat. It's getting a little long in the tooth and doesn't get driven much since I got my T bucket on the road. I get it out every now and then just to keep it from sitting too much. Still a blast to drive!

Interesting in the resemblance between the 42-48 Fords and the 42-48 Plymouths.
The only other car I considered buying was a 47 Ford.

    Here is my 47 Ply:

Found this in a barn last year. That is original paint! Parked in '68. Now has a Heidts front end and CE rear springs. I love the Fat Fords

Glad to see you changed to include the first year of this body style. I bartered for this one. It was Hot Rodded at one time. (Notice the nerf bar) It's actually a '46 with a '41 nose. That's a hand brusheds paint job too. Going to do a body swap with my '41 Fordor. It's already got the 350/350/10 bolt rear, etc...

This is a '42 Convert that has an upgraded chassis (Mustang II, 8" ford) and then it is sectioned 4" and channelled 5" with the rear fenders raised 4". It will get chopped a couple inches and then get a 401 Nailhead for go-jo.

Lots of work done, lots of work to go.:D

Here is my '48. Photo taken at NSRA Divisionals in Oklahoma City in 2009. Has a 351W (yep, a Ford) with a C6 tranny and comfy Chrysler Cordoba seats. All stock, all steel body. Was built over 20 years ago and still looks like this. Yeah, there is a little road rash here and there, but hey, it's a driver!
