This is correct. 1941 had strait bones the same length as 42-48 but the same perch pin distance as 1937-1940. 1942-1948 had the "bent" wishbone and a wider spring perch distance. my 46 pictured above has the bent bones

Pie-----There is an outfit called Ch***is Engineering. I've used them a LOT over the years and believe me they have what you need to lower the car, front and rear. And do it right. There parts are quality, engineered for your car and are fairly priced. Ch***is Engineering has been in business, for at least 20 years and are located in West Branch Iowa. On one of my trips out west I stopped in and they really seemed PROUD to give the grand tour on the place. Look them up!!! Bill Rinaldi

super-d I think your panhard bar needs to be shortened or mount moved because you lowered it the radius the end of the bar travels is pushing your wishbone over. if you picture it horizontal and as you move the bar end down it gets "shorter". so its at its longest in horizontal position. so you lowered car its going to get "longer" and push over the wishbone. so you need to shorten it I think. unbolt it and get everything centered up and measure the center to center and adjust for it.this would be my guess.

That's what I'm thinking to all the pictures I see, the pan hard bar has a curve on the end there were amounts when their lowered should I do it now or wait until I get a Posie spring?

    Mine is the top,
Should it look like the one in the middle? It
    looks the cleanest to me

Mine had a curve, I shortened mine 1/2" and it seems pretty right on now. Of course every car will be different.

Front end was done by some one before me.

My set up looks like yours, do you have problems with axle bumping frame on rough roads?

I have added truck tube shocks in an effort to stop it, ( find out this spring )

Has any one found a Heavier sway bar from another car or truck that can be made to fit?

I haven't bottomed out on any bumpy roads. of course I haven't had it long enough to go on a lot of bumpy roads but it seems to ride good, go down the freeway straight
Just seems to me it be a lot lower with the 4 inch drop axle. I'm going to disconnect the swaybar well it's at right height and see what happens i bet you it'll move.

I figured out what's going on. Its combination,
The pan hard was pushing it, and also the pan hard bracket is hitting the spring, which I think is actually holding it up a little bit, and pushing it over so I'm thinking a reversed "eye spring , and shorten the bar will fix the problem.
The old over-the-top spring is too flat!
    it is 70 years old![IMG][IMG]o

Looks like u got it sorted out.I am going to reverse the eye on mine and I'm wondering about the 2nd spring where it wraps around the main leaf.I think we kinda hijacked the thread but it should apply.

I can see on your pic that you have a lot more room between axle and frame.
( even with rubber stop in place )

My spring must be bagged out.

That is exactly the problem I had with my 47 i tried to do***ent it all in my work in progress thread

Wishbone would hit the frame with not very much of a bump.
PO had longer shackles on it. So I tried stock length ones. Still hit. Finally bought a 3"drop axle from posies. Fixed the hitting but it actually raised the car by 3" not WHT I wanted. So I got a dropped axle from sid. That brought it back to within an inch of where it was when I bought the car. And no hitting. Not crazy low about 9 inches from the bumper to the ground. Bittom of the bumper guards are a bit lower but it's drivable and that's what I really wanted. Thought about pulling a leaf or 2 but not sure if I will or not.

My avatar is a mix of reversed eye spring, Valley Vintage raised front cross member, and dropped tube axle with 195 Michelins. It has a Ch***is Engineering front swaybar as well as a panhard bar. I wouldn't want it any lower which is good because I can't think of a way to get it any lower without installing an IFS

There is a guy in the Louisville Street Rodders Car Club that had a in the weeds Gray 46 Ford coupe that had a dropped front axle on the front, and I believe 3" lowering blocks on the rear leaf springs. That car was bad ***. I don't have a picture but it had the look you are talking about. All I can remember is his name is Scott. Someone on here from Louisville, Ky. might know the car, and have a picture from their late Sept. Rod Run. I'm thinking he ran 14" tires and rims on the front, and 15" on the rear.

Im thinking about trying a 40 spring from posies
    It measures 37 3/4
    The 47 is 39.
Might kill 2 birds with one stone
Bring shackles in and flatten out cause its heavier then a 40 I think

    Took out 3 leaves
2,4 and 2nd or 3rd from top, and put it on bottom until i make spacer.
Spring is flat straight across now shackles are at a 45*....just the wrong direction!!! I cut an inch out of the stabilizer bar, now I need to modify the Pitman arm it's hitting the drag link a little bit[IMG][IMG][IMG] [IMG]

It wasn't fuel issues, it was the Pertronix coil, it was mounted to low, and loose, and was boiling the oil out of it.
So I made a new mount and moved it up and back
