Technical 425 buick 2x4 set up

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wood remover, Jun 20, 2022.

  1. Picked up a 425 buick ??manifold and carbs today I would have expected that the manifold would be aluminium? I believe that these are the proper carbs as one has no choke provisions .Numbers are the same on both carbs ,but the tops have different #s.
    744 and 704 if I remember right . I Will post all the carb #s shortly when I wander out to the shop . 20220620_185303.jpg 20220620_185337.jpg 20220620_185344.jpg 20220620_185414.jpg 20220620_185442.jpg 20220620_185507.jpg

I had one several years ago and it was cast iron. Supposed to flow much better than the secondary market ones.

  3. I took this off of my '66 Riv when I sold it back in '77, been sitting on the shelf ever since! IMG_0449[1867].jpg

Factory Buick 2x4 intakes are cast iron. The carb numbers you posted are not the right ones. The carb numbers are stamped into the forward facing edge of the base plate, on the passenger side of the carb. Front carb looks correct so far..no choke like you said. It also won't have idle air bleeds.. they don't have an idle circuit. Your throttle rod is the right one. Looks good so far!

Looks like a 1965 setup....the carbs are the right numbers. The manifold is dated L25..is December 25th....the carbs are both dated M4...which is December of 1964. On carbs and electrical parts they didn't use the letter I for September....so L for castings...and M for carbs and electrical both mean December.
