427 mid rise heads

    does anyone know what all is gonna have to be done to a set of 427 mid rise heads to fit a 390?

    You need to make sure that the intake valves don't rub the tops of the cylinder walls, and notch the block if they are too close. And also you need to make sure you use the correct med. riser rocker shaft stands and a med. riser intake manifold will need to be used.

    Medium riser heads with 2.19" valves require too deep of a notch to work on a 4.05" bore block. They are usable with a notch on a 4.13" bore block. Low riser/428CJ heads with 2.09" valves will work on a 4.05" block without a notch, but the extra clearance will help breathing.
