On the ledge by the oil filter stamped is E1 under that is 7M9 front of block stamped 45 over 52 # on the back of the block right under the intake stamped 86141921. Without popping the heads or taking out the freeze plug is this enough to id the motor? It runs so righteous i hate to pull it apart.

FORD???? need to locate casting numbers, and even those are not 100% guarantee= should be on front of block on p***enger side slightly forward of freeze plug. no luck there look on block just above starter. C6ME and C7ME-C are some of the codes. also, on back of block near top should be a large A that looks like a welded mark or some call a scratched mark. also, online sites like mustangtek.com may help you. no simple answers.

My crystal ball says you might be looking at a Pontiac not a Ford. Is that correct??? If so, there are a bunch of #s, but only a few that you will actually need.

    Good luck, -Abone.
