Okay fellas now the time has come for the 56 that I saved from the s**** heap. To get a new engine. I have both a 429 and 460 ones going to go in. I've researched swap kits, only thing I'm seeing is Crites. Now I'm a bit skeptical on the due to some bad reviews here on the hamb. I put my ego aside and called them anyways. The dude at Crites was cool but told me his fabricator and him had a fallout and the fabricator took the master mount and vanished. He possibly has a set but is unsure if it is correct.
Is it possible to do anything different to install this motor or a use a different vendor. if anyone has a set or a picture or 2 of the Crites kit, Please share I could send him the picture and possibly have some progress.
    Thanks Troy.

Update, a gal from Crites called and said they are fabbing them as we speak. I'll keep us posted.

Actually his new name will be 385'er. The 429 and 460 are 385 series blocks. ;)

Lol, yeah this is a project I'm going to sell to fund my 55 customline. 460 c6 or 4speed toploader. Do I get to keep my name?

Fabricator took the master mount.. nice going. I'd hope they had at least a drawing of it somewhere.

I have a 460 in my 55, kit was made by a company in North Dakota (long since out of business) and a c6. Trans tunnel was made larger, and clearance to even 6cyl rad position is tight, but a couple small electric fans keep it cool

Okay mounts are on the way ! MNfordfan, does the stock radiator work I read that the 69 'stang radiator is a drop in replacement for the 55-56? Should I gamble it for 150$ worst case scenario . V8 car originally BTW

This is the one with the correct core size that fits, your BBF will have larger hose diameters so you will probably have to get creative there with some reducers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1967-1970-1...ash=item3cd1096489:g:A60AAMXQROxRdkmT&vxp=mtr Note that this one has the lower hose on the drivers side there is another of the same size with a p***enger side lower hose commonly used with a 302/5.0 swap using the early "short" water pump. Because of the long length of your BBF you may want to hunt for a 55-56 6 cyl radiator support panel.

Thanks Jeff b. I'm hoping for some simplicity in this damn project. Lol ☺ but hey if were easy, everyone would drive a bad***ed Ford.

When I started the Group back in May of 2009 there were so many that thought the easy way was "put a Chevy in it" well I guess we blew that myth away :D It all comes down to learning as you go and using common sense. There are all kinds of interchangeable Ford stuff too you just have to look for it.

Update Crites has shipped my order. Doing just engine mounts as I'm unsure if I'm doing the toploader or C6 in it. Next question is about the oil pan. Did you guys that have done the swap get away with using a standard front sump?

I have ordered from Crites several times with good luck but there have been plenty of customers not so lucky.
    I haven't installed mine yet.

Yes it will fit....with some minor mods. I'm using a TKO 5 speed. The mounts needed modification on mine as I used FPA headers. I used a stock sized Aluminum rad, 1&1/4 flues. With aluminum heads, high compression and nasty cam, it cools fine.
One more thing. They advertised the "mounts" and sent one. When I called the lady was not concerned about false advertising or if they had a mistake. If I wanted a pair, I'd have to pay for another "pair" so I was forced to buy another.
As for the mounts themselves, they are pretty simple if you have the correct isolator that bolts to the engine. Would have bought the headers from them but was afraid I'd end up having to buy each side separately!!! I don't respect people that do business that way!
Maybe they told the fabricator that what they were offering for pay was for a month not a week?!

Not the first time "the lady on the phone" has come up, I guess the "time of the month" lasts for 30 days.

I think I would have tried Fox Mustang 460 mounts. The Fox 302 mounts work to install a SBF, and the SN95 Mustang MOD motor mounts work for the modular motor

Well they arrived, both... So far no complaints on Crites with me. Might even do their headers as well.
