I would like power steering, but I can always add it later I suppose. I found a guy with a new ram setup, complete, for $300. Might grab that if the pump will clear.

The 58 I'm actually taking the entire chassis from for a 50 ford coupe. I know it sounds nuts but it makes sense.

  2. Using a complete 58 chassis under a 50 Ford will be a challenge but why not. Any progress on that project or does it have to be started ?
BTW i like the 429 in the 55 Merc.

I've actually yet to buy the car. My dad bought a 53 Merc for me to redo for him, and since owning it we've switched directions as the 50 coupe has become his dream car. This 58 I bought a while back, it's a real turd with poor bodywork done all over...but...has a wicked Cammed roller 302/aod/locker 9", aluminum driveshaft, discs, modern ps adapted in, air conditioning, you name it. So, instead of spending a zillion bucks on a shoe chassis, I'll just make this fit. The car is flat out a rocket. There's a 50 coupe in town here I'm working on getting, but the owner is holding out a little. He'll give in eventually!

Hence the 429...can't let dad's car dust mine can I? ;)

Nice. I always have an opinion about 429 based engines.....and I thought there was no way in hell that it would not fit. Surely your under hood has more room than my 429 based swap. It's hard to keep my mouth shut....with the big**** grin I have for you. Congratulations man. I'll slink back and away now......

Here's my 460 in my 57. It's a tight fit with the Crites headers especially around the steering box, and also around the drag link when you turn left it rubs. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1420233384.812165.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1420233417.079888.jpg
