I have a '48 ford coupe. I want to install a 429 with a C6 in it. The car has Chassis Engineering dropped axle front suspension and parrallel rear leaf kit. The problem I'm hearing is that I won't be able to get the steering around the engine. Has anyone put a 429/460 in a straight axle 41-48 Ford? If so, what did you use for steering, and what is the best box to use. I heard of a "half rack" as a possibility, but I have no experience with these. I know It'd be easier with a 350/350 combo, but the engine has some sentimental meaning, and I just like the "Ford in a Ford' idea. Thanks for any info you guys can give me. ( I used the search function but only found the 429/460 motors used with independent front suspensions )

I assume the D.S. header/manifold is the problem. Try a different header/manifold. Here's an idea. mount a P.S.manifold on the D.S. and free up the area for the steering. then figure out how to run the exhaust to the rear. No kidding, I've seen it done.

Thanks fordor41, I'll try that if all else fails. Has anyone else put a 429 in a 41-48 Ford coupe?
