We're talking '63-66 here, not 67 and up.

Does the 440 fit? Yes. Does it fit well? No.

Another issue is you'll never fit enough radiator into the car to get it to cool properly, at least not in Texas or anywhere else that it gets truly hot.

  4. If I can put 360/727 in a 89 Dodge Ram 50 you can put the 440 in the Dart.

  6. yes Fugly Too<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_8474589", true); </SCRIPT> its the tan one the only problem I have left is the accelerator pump linkage does not work right and have not had the time to pull the carb off other then that I have been driving it around the block to see if any thing else needs to be done once I am sure it wont strand me will start driving daily till I sell it or change it to a toy
I know the market is soft but you would think at $3000 for a sound daily driver it would sell most of what can and will fail has been changed.

Yes, the 62 Darts are B bodies. My brother did a 413/4 speed 63 Valiant. Yes, It can be done.

I have an RB 440 with a 727 in my 65 270 Dart, its a tight fit. You will need to modify the K frame, engine mounts and headers. All are available as aftermarket parts mine are all made not purchased. It handles remarkably well on the street with the chassis set up properly and as you might imagine it motivates pretty well also.

I can tell you this if you want something different its not something you see everyday, most people don't get it but the Mopar guys appreciate it.

I saw a mag today at BAM that had a 64 or 65 Barracuda with a 383 tunnel ram in it. The guy bought it semi set up, the firewall was cut and boxed, the fenderwells were cut out and it looked rough, and bad to the bone.

I currently have a 63 dart with a 383 big block in it and. 727 trans, no the firewall isn't cut, now is the trans hump. The K member was modified/ spaced lower to fit, and the radiator is out of the same donor car(70Newyorker) the bottom of the core support was cut and lowered to accept the radiator.. So for all the poo poo'ers it is possible. ( I was not the one who did the original install)
