Hot Rods 454?

I have a 52 ford coupe with a bbc. But none of the valve cover gaskets fit. I had to cut the gasket tabs off to make them fit. I went to many auto parts stores, they checked 396, 427, 454. and no match. the holding tabs do not match up. Jim

A picture would help to understand problem !

 

I have had to cut the tabs on the out side of the gasket to install them, if thats what your talking about.....

yes

 

sounds like you have aftermarket valve covers that don't need a tab to hold the gasket in place while you install it. if the shape and bolt holes line up then you're money. sometimes you just gotta call a duck a duck.

now if your old gaskets dont match (size/shape/boltpattern), then take a pic of the motor and post it.

 

They look like stock covers.
