Just called about a 61 Oldsmobile. The guy swears it is a 455 and it is the original motor. Now i may be wrong, but i am pretty sure that there was not a 455 in 61. The car is in Sycamore though so who knows whats up with it haha.

kid , my big book shows no 455 as a factory motor .more like the aluminum 215 cu in motor .bore 3.5"x2.8" stroke made 155 brake hp at 4800 rpm , torque is 210 ft pounds at 3200 rpm 8.75:1 cop engine weight 318 lbs . I thought the 455's were made avil in like 67 or 68 . the 69 w-30 455 is the badboy !

455 didn't exist untill '68. Is it a big olds or a smaller cutlass? If it's a cutlass its probably the 215. If not, it's a 394 (I think). No way in hell it's an original 455 in a '61 though.

  5. If you need some parts let me know. There is a '61 98 in the local yard here but they get crushed after about a month. Full sizes all had the 394.
