I'm looking at a 1946 Fordor for possible purchase and have a question. On the lower dash, left of the steering column there is a knob with the letters VAC. Can someone tell me what this controls? Thanks, Ron
Hmmm, good question. I don't remember the 46 in our shop having a knob labled that way. Are you talking about one of the two to the left of the column in this picture ? Don
Don, Here is a picture of it although you cant read the knob. It has the two as pictured in yours, but then there's another next to the hood release. I was hoping someone might say "Columbia"! Maybe wishful thinking. The car is stuffed in a garage and I only have access to the driver's door and under hood. Nothing on the passenger side, trunk or rear driver side door. Looks to be totally complete and a pretty decent original '46 (except for the seat covers and door panels).
Nice find. My lifelong friend gave me a '47 Fordor last year, so I am sharing the thrill. (I had lost my '40 Merc a few years back when I relocated my shop, and my bud said I needed this lovely sedan for the 'era'...and to take Grandkids to Billetproof, etc.) I thank the Creator for good friends.
Wiper control is on top of the dash behind the windshield center bar. I don't think there would be a dup control. @ MIke - congrats! Friends like that are hard to come by.
