Getting ready to purchase a radiator for my 46 Ford tudor sedan. 302 Ford, i'm looking at aluminum radiators due to small budget, anyone have any ideas? who makes the best one? I want to use approx stock size. pros/cons of aluminum?? help me out. Thanks
Not entirely on topic, but with a long engine like a 302 it might be useful to know there are two sizes and locations of radiator for these. 6 cylinder one is slightly narrower than 8, mounts on an extra set of holes several inches forward of the 8. The smaller size should not matter...flathead radiator is massive overkill in this application.
Used a Walker in my 46 Ford. A direct bolt in and was in the car ten years and going strong when I sold the car. Copper radiators can be repaired. Bonded aluminum radiators are throw aways. The cheap aluminum ones are Chinese manufactured. I wouldn't own one.
Go buy a brand new 65 mustang v-8 radiatior, they easy to install and works perfect for the 41-48 fords, I have one in my 46, and they are less than 200 bucks new.
I have a Walker in my '47 with the flathead and it works great! That said, on a budget and running a small block I'd look into an early Mustang radiator. Should be cheap and easy to get new.
This is what I am planning for my 47 as well.... last Mustang rad I got from e-gay was $100 it wasnt aluminum though..
