Blues, For me I did the stock spring and just reversed that spring. I also did it myself after talking to the local ( well 65 miles away local) spring shop. I also noted that in this picture I kinda got the 9" Ford rear end a little off center, first time I actually noticed that.
Almost forgot that I started this thread. This is how it sits right now, the rear end is sitting lower because it's sitting on a donut, and a flat tire. It'll be interesting to see how far down it goes with an engine in it.
I'm using the Ch***is Engineering kit. It bolts on to the frame where using the original knee shock mounts.
These 3 46's are all lowered with longer shackles in the front, stock axles and springs. The 4dr sedan and primered one have parallel leafs in the rear.
46 ford. Dropped axle, posie spring, and modified front crossmember. 9 in out back on posies parallel springs. 500/525 up front and a 750r16 out back.
I know @EV34 probably gets tired of hearing this, but the way his front wheels are tucked in, is perfect! Hell, the car just sits right!
haha to be honest it’s actually quite rewarding. I told people what I wanted and what I wanted to achieve it with and they told me without going with a IFS I would never get the stance I was after. There was quite a bit of negative comments and naysayers along the way. And now that the car is done and in the road and the feedback it gets I just smile. One for it turned out exactly how I wanted it too. And the other reason is for all the naysayers that said it wouldn’t work.
Already forgot about this thread. Here's how it's sitting now. This is with the flipped spring and CE shackles. I put 4" lowering blocks in the back.
My lifelong bud Marc gifted me a cherry, no rust '47 Fordor a few years back. His bro had removed 8" from the center of the front cross member, to get it DOWN! Also included was a Posie 'In the dirt' reversed and flattened front spring and a 4" Super Bell dropped axle. Fordor is still alongside my shop, soon to be welded up and ***embled. Marc also provided a Ch***is Eng. rear semi-elliptic kit, so car will sit low. Rubber rake later, but for now I am going low, 710 X 15s and full skirts, all the trim polished up and nicely detailed. Few guys have said "Wow, nice haul! Too bad it's a Fordor..." Wife and I laugh, current number of Grandchildren is 25. Serious.
Love it. I’m going to go with a 550 up front next time. Right now I’m running the 500/525 and it’s a tad bit small. those 750s in the back are fun to put under it! I first had the stock banjo under mine when I first went with the 750s on the rear and the snout of the axle made it a huge chore. Switching to the 9 in made it better but still some work to get it done. But I love the look and would t change it for anything.
Hey thanks! I tried the 5.00x16s off my model a and they put the ubolts in the dirt! Haha! Your car rules! Wish mine was that nice!! They really aren't fun getting them under and I can't imagine with the stock banjo!! Haha!
thanks man! I love your car as well and think the tire change was a great move! I’m just North of Springfield Mo I’m sure we will run into each other at some point!!
