I have an idea to put a copper plated grill along with the headlight trim and round aftermarket mirrors on a 1946 chevy pick painted glossy black. I feel that newly plated copper would be to bright.

My question is how could I go about getting a darker, aging, or tarnished look to my newly copper coated grill? i can't seem to find anything on the net about working with copper.

dry brushing technic has came to mind with just paint and not dealing with plating.

anodized aluminum was suggested but i know very little about that

any info will be helpful or any ideas will be considered

  2. Mix up some water and vinegar in a plant mister and spray it with that. it will pretty soon get a patina.
