Can you put the front clips of a 46 ford pickup cab on a 40 cab? And if you’ve got a answer, will it fit fine on the 46 frame?
Yes, the '40/'41 cab and the '46/'47 cab are essentially the same, the difference is the seat riser ('40/'41 gas tank mounted in frame vs '46/'47 mounted in cab). They also require a different wood cab mounting kit, as the '46/'47 frame is a "ladder style" vs '40/'41 are the same as cars from '35 thru '40, including'41 p/u.
I did just the opposite and put a 46 cab on my 41 frame. Very few differences but like @40FORDPU said, different wood kits for the mounting. You will have to either run a rear frame mounted tank or cut the cab open for a fuel filler if you put the tank under the seat. Looks wise, you have to be damn sharp to tell them apart.
Coming from a guy with his shirt pulled over his head, that doesn't carry a lot of weight The 40 cab has some superfluous holes that the 46 doesn't require to secure the lower fender to the cowl. Other than a tank filler (46), a seat base with no back panel to allow for the tank and a couple of tank mounting brackets down there, and 4 carriage bolts in the back of the cab (also 46) the cab stamping is identical.
Just my take. Since a ‘46 frame was mentioned, he might have a rough and rotted 46 cab Found a decent ‘40 cab. And now what’s to see if the front end stuff he has will work with the ‘40 cab.
Just to be clear, you are talking about a 46 pickup front on a 40 pickup cab on a Bronco ch***is. Have I got that correct?
In case the bronco doesn’t work out Just gonna use the original frame which has damage and to another person, using a different 302 from a 70s ford pickup, bronco also has a 302 but it’s running rough and is fuel ejected
