A freind of mine is looking to hop up a lincoln 462 for his 35 Ford...we're kinda having a tough time finding go-fast goodies and dress up junk. Anybody have any links to any sites? Thanks.
good luck, i have seen some pictures of some 6X2 log style intakes for 462, but never in person. whatever you do upgrade that stock timing set!!!! www.kanter.com www.lincolnlandinc.com
There isn't anything new. You can find tripowers and 6x2's on Ebay sometimes. Somebody here was selling a 6x2. I sell stubbed header flanges and am trying to get a cast aluminum valve cover made but it's not going to be soon. Only Cal Custom made aftermarket valve covers and I've only seen one pair ever.
The MEL forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/257364 LCOC: (useful info on MELs, but aimed at the whole car http://www.lcoc.org/ (check the bulletin board/forum) I, along with about 100 others, are anxiously awaiting those valve covers. Weiand made the 6x2, & a blower intake. Edelbrock made the tripower & another 6x2, correct me on that one, Scoob. Cams are something of an issue right now. Apparently someone is again making MEL blanks, because both Egge Machine & Maddog Racing are now offering replacement spec cams....most cam grinders could do a regrind to something more performance oriented, within limits. Old NOS roller cams & solid cams show up on eBay occasionally. There are a few parts that interchange with the FE, not many. It is still possible to piece together a nice MEL, but it takes work & patience.
I've got a sheetmetal 6x2 for a MEL, I bought from Scoob that Im making into a blower manifold for an 8-71.. Im having to be creative because theres not much out there in the way of blower manifolds. I also moved the distributor up front-driving off the cam... The whole mess is going in a 31 sedan. Hey Scoob how much for the header flanges? Did anyone make a cool valley cover? Oh yeah put me down for some valve covers also!!
The valve covers have been on hold for a while but there is new hope for a foundry (please Ed?). Then a valley pan would be the next item. I was going to do a plain finned valve cover but I'm leaning towards a version like the 368 now just because they are neater. I'm not sure if the logo would be prohibitive though from a legal standpoint but I don't think it's illegal to make a set or two for personal use and then produce the non-logo version for sale.
Hey Steve, i found a NOS solid Isky from vintakes for my 383 merc....... hey scoob, still haven't built my headers but the flanges are beauty.
Scoob, that version of lincoln valve covers has my vote! I'd buy a set right now! I was almost tempted to take a stamped Lincoln 368 cover, cut the scipt out and weld it into my 430 covers. Do you have a pic of the header flanges? How much ? Thanks
Steevil, I'm gonna throw a different spin on the 462 hop-up deal. I say you don't need to hop-up a 462 in a `35 Ford. Think of it this way, you're adding 241 cubic inches right off the bat. A 462 has ample ports and valves, 4- barrel carb and rocker arms to multiply cam lobe lift. Don't worry about spending a bunch of money on "go-fast" goodies. Like most Ford engines they come with the "go-fast" stuff from the factory. Freshen her up, clean-up the exterior, buy a good ignition and un-cork the exhaust then hang on. The 462 is kin to THE most powerful engine offered in any American car available in the `50's, the 430MEL.
I'm in the process of making some to fit the earlier Y-blocks cause I need em for my 368. I'm make a few extras that will fit the 317 and 341 also. I'm out of the 430's right now but I'm in town this week so we'll run another batch of them. and I'll post up pix and pricing on them.
We made up two more pairs of MEL header flanges this morning. They are 3/8" thick laser cut with matching laser cut gaskets and can be stubbed with 1.75" and 2" tubes. The flanges are $100 bare and $225 stubbed. I can ship them for under $10 in the continental USA. I am loading up my 368 right now to make some header flanges and u-fab intakes for it too. These will work for the 317, 341, and 368 Lincoln Y-blocks and the prices will be the same if anyone needs any. We also have some new 392 hemi zoomies that a customer never showed up for. They are $400.
i've got a couple NOS isky roller cams for sale pm me they also made algon fuel injection [uncle scooby bought the one i had wished i would've keep it oh well] a 8x2 intake for 430 6x2 fact 3x2 holley 4 bolt carbs and edelbrock made a 3x2 which used the old 3 bolt stromberg 97 or holley carb wonder how that worked can't see putting 3 150 cfm carbs on a 430 inch motor or even 3 200 cfm holleys i've heard stories about idling overheating on 430 seems the fact installed water diverts in the block behind the water pump to cure this problem anyone have info on this?? john
I had to replace the water pump on my 430 and there was little thermostats in the block on each side.
Thanks fellas. I had pretty much figured there was zero in the aftermarket for old Lincoln bullets. It's a good runner right now but like we would like to squeeze as much power out of it as possible. You know how it is...more power, more speed...
I do have the Lincoln 368 header flanges now and I also know of Two Latham supercharged Lincoln 430's now. One in Kansas, and one in my garage. Just saying that to taunt you Beep.
