    Hello all,

Let me start by saying I've searched, and there isn't much discussion on the Jag front clip...

I've got a '52 Chevy 3100 with the frame untouched, stock front-beam, drums all round etc.

    It's got a 283/700R4 with a 4.55 Posi, I'm building a 383 for it this summer.

With that in mind one of my first things to tackle is the front suspension. This truck will be dropped as low as possible keeping it practical.

I'm in Europe and MII is hard to come by to say the least. F-body front clips seem overly intrusive and to be honest I don't have any experience driving one but I don't hear good things, from builders and owners.

A jag front clip is a very popular conversion on hotrods in general over here as it's available, has the Chevy stud-pattern and it's just a crossmember you can offer up to your existing chassis and has a power steering rack.

Like most modifications opinions vary greatly and intensely. I'm looking for your honest opinions on this, I'm leaning towards the Jag front clip...

Here's my truck, lots to do, drivetrain and suspension first, then electrical , then wheels and paint etc.

Here's what a Jag front crossmember looks like:

lot's of upgrades available like bigger swaybar and poly bushings etc.

    Opinions?

First thing measure the track width to make sure it will fit in the fenders without using odd offset wheels. Second unless you are autocrossing stick with the stock suspension bushings.Otherwise I would say the Jag is the best choice.

Jag works, just study up on suspension design, measure twice....weld once. JAG IFS is pretty slick and I agree with JohnEvans - stock bushings all around - and - I'd go ahead and replace them all while you've got it on the ground/bench and accessible. Sip a pint while you're at it...time will go faster.

  4. That's a sweet looking, solid pickup. Love to see the build as it progresses.

    Thanks for the input guys!

It is a solid, fairly virgin truck, I'm very excited to get it inspected and on the road and then get it where I want it bit by bit..

Jag front clip fits perfectly. I have a magazine article published by UK,s Custom Car that shows exactly how to do it. PM me with your email address and I'll send a copy to you.
