rebuilding a 3spd trans,my dad was telling me long ago about cutting a groove in the inside of the syncro drum.i bought a rebuilt ***ymbly and it has the groove cut in it, my old one does not have it.looks like a snapring groove about an 1/8" wide around the inner gear.i for the life of me ,can't see what this does for keeping the trans in 3rd gear.the shaft that goes through it has nothing to engage this mystical groove. hope someone can help me with this.need to know what to modify to utilize this groove.
