Recently I asked a question about how to get my 47 Ford hood hinges to work properly, and there was a suggestion to use a gas piston kit from Speedway, # 9117002. After a long session of attempting to get the spring ***isted hinges to work I bit the bullet and bought the Speedway kit. It wasn't an exact fit, but it was easily modified for installation. I am pleased to say it works like a trained pig.

Interesting! Does it apply a downward, closing pressure when down, but without forcing panels into misalignment?

I like what I see and evidently several others do as well, as they are on backorder. My questions are, do you have to make sure the latch is closed and then push the back down and will the back of the hood stay down while traveling?

    I am confused,
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

The back of the hood stays where it's supposed to be. Here's a video link.
