You do know your cab is the same as 1940 to 47?
I hope you can do something about the very ugly front end on the 46/47

  4. Think long and hard about chopping your truck. Your windshield opening is something like 11" top to bottom. I have a '38, but the interior dimensions of the '40-'47 cab are about the same as they are on the '38-'39. You're probably not as tall as I am (I'm 6'5"), but I know I'd hate to think about having any less headroom or legroom in my '38 which is not chopped. You'll definitely have to get yourself one of those prism thingies to see traffic lights if you chop it.

Cut mine 4", could have leaned the posts back pretty easy, but I liked the angle they are on from the factory. I added a strip about an inch wide across the top and also cut the back half of the roof in half lengthwise, in realtion to the truck, and added about 3/4" there. Also i cut two inches above the rear window and two below the window to keep the window at full height. Lotta work, but worth it. Oh Yeah I had an extra set of junk doors that made the door tops go back together easier.

Here's my attempt at chopping a top on a 47 ford. I cut 8 inches out, to get the windshield down to the minimum legal hight of 6 inches.

I chopped my 40' cab it's the same 40-47. Added a strip of steel in towards the front, cut out the complete back window so it was not small like most. Used the A pillar and door sections to fill in in the jamb. 1 roof, Its is my avatar pic and it was chopped somewhere 4 1/2" rear and 6 in the front. Also got a 38' window frame so the window would tilt out. In a few days I will pm you alot of pics throughout the chop.

This is a 48 cab but the process is the same as Demon452 did. Quartered the roof, 4 inch chop, used the 4" section of door "a" pillar to lengthen top of door frame, added metal to fill gaps in roof. We took the rear window out and only took about 2" out of it, then put the window back in. It was our first and not the easiest. It turned out pretty decent though we think.

I did mine on a paint program first, which is my avatar now, I have never done a panel before, but I will start the 3'' chop and section removal on my 47 ford panel next week. I am shortening it by 18'' as well, and I will be picking up a frame for it this weekend.
These guys have some great info!! I sectioned the roof in the past but I am going for the lay back pillars on this one. good luck for both of us!
