Last winter I found out my 47 ford tudor has smokers windows after mentioning in my work in progress thread tha t j thought they were broke or not right when I'd roll them up and the window would start to slide back and fall out as I thought that's what was happening. Fast forward to now I just had a little paint done and they took out the regulators and Windows to paint. I figured before I put them back in I'd make sure the whole mechanism was working correctly. After I learned what they were I realized I still had issues. Mainly with them he drivers side rear window. It wouldn't slide properly and would actually start to fall out. Long story short I'm looking for anyone with more knowledge than me about how they are supposed to look and operate to help me get them right before reinstalling them. I've attached a couple pics of both Windows sitting on the bench and where I think the problem is. The regs have a roller and pattern on them that appear to follow each other. The drivers side doesn't seem to line up very well and I thin km that's my issue but I also wondered if there is supposed to be a stop to keep them from sliding back too far. I've only a moment but the stop is more or less when it hits the body from what I can gather. 99% of the troubles I've had with them doing what your talking about was caused buy window channels/ felts / wiskers trips that sort of thing being wore the **** out. It makes it lose and easy to jamb and or fall out of alignment. While you have the unit out of the car clear those gears out and line them up, run em threw a few times and it'll work quite a bit better. They only roll at most two inches back. The start rolling back as soon as your window is rolled all the way up. That make since?
