Being a hearse owner myself, you'll get enough people coming up to you just because of what it is. Hell its a hearse! That is the most original custom car that exists and its factory. If you want to chop or cut up a hearse then grab one from the 70's or new and butcher the hell out of it. But people please leave the last remaining classic hearses alone. But this is just my opinion. If you want to see a custom hears look up KARGOYLE done by Barris.

leave it alone. that car is worth a ton more restored than sitting behind the shed as a forgotten project. If anything, just trick it out a little.

What a tough crowd. i wouldn't dream of baggin on a member saying he'll not finish or abandon. Play nice kids.

I'm really feelin the sedan delivery gig though. Way better than a chopped hearse IMO. Even that would be enough of a challenge to whet anyone's fab/kustom skills.

Sorry, but he asked what we think. I didn't mean to offend, but I've had to scrap too many enthusiastic projects gone bad. Worst Hearse disaster was a 32 Ford that a restorer bought for parts. Didn't think anyone would want a hearse. It needed a lot of wood, but it could have been saved. This looks to be a fairly nice complete car. It would be different if he had already bought the project. Look at this as the crowd reaction before the deed. Perhaps, a different car could be found to cut up. I am not a restorer either.

    I'd cut it...

Its just a big ugly 'wagon, but it can be improved.

A mild chop to get the top of the windshield in line with the tops of the sideglass would help a lot.
With maybe a very small amount more taken out of the front than out of the back.

Trouble is, it seems that a lot of modified hearses end up as cartoonish theme builds.
If you can avoid that, it could turn out OK...

The feedback is great. As Clint Eastwood said, "a mans got to know his limitations....." I couldn't stand to see it end up as another unfinished pile of metal in the junk yard! I think the more creative ideas mentioned without having to cut, may be the way to go. I've got a 30 Hup, and I wouldn't dare make a slice on it.

The "extra cool" factor is that it is an original flathead V-8!

No one is born knowing how to weld or chop tops. We all start out with pretty much the same clean slate. Point being, there is nothing wrong with not knowing something. Trouble tends to start at the point where one doesn't realize what they don't know.

Leave it as a hearse, IMO, if you mess with it, you will lose the mystic associated with the hearse, and it will just look like a station wagon, but in the end its yours, do with it what you wish.

Leave it alone....Later ones, even the hearse themselves are begging for a top chop but this one looks good as it is.

You can leave the wind sheild stock because of the high
roof above it or cut it
