havn't touched it in couple weeks i have been laid off again and just bummed out i will jump back on it soon
joel sorry hear that but i be out work for july 14 last week i look the car i work on the car 11;30 to 8 pm life is good you have your familia . soon you si now pic
yeah it sucks i cleaned the car yesterday have to buy a new grinder mine died lol i have to focus on the interior fabrication and leave the body patching to the experts cause me fucking up the body more isn't going to help so when the baby's asleep il put the monitor on and go outside and see what i can mess with hope everyone is doing good i need a local body guy who could do one part at a time for me ( door, trunk, fender)
i guess i kicked this depression in the ass again i feel motivated i picked up a new cheap grinder a harbor freight but im to motivated to do some work around the house so the 47 has to wait in line but she knows whats coming
Joel, Thats a hard core project! Love it! Keep us posted. Ya got a place inside to work on it this winter? I know it gets colder up there on Long Island than it does here in OK. Good luck man.....
im ok now, i took a break and was very very depressed and almost did stuff i couldn't recover from but i feel better after taking a break from the world now i have to get work back on track and i started doing small things to get the fire started on the build i missed this site and everyone on it thank you for asking update on the project: my boy marvin gave me this $500 steering wheel so i decidedto make it a one of a kind i took the horn assembly fit the wheel i just need to trim a ring to fill in the gap here is first mock up
Great job on the steering wheel, that will look good in your car. Good to hear you're back on your feet!
here is the last MAJOR body repair i have to do then i can try to repair the doors and everthing else and finish it this is the passenger "A" pillar that i need to cut out and replace the skin i might just place the new one over it and weld it in place so not to lose strength no one will know and i think i can make it work if not i would have to graft this in place its dented in so i think i have room to go ontop the replacement the original
Me too. You can put that a-pillar piece over the other one as long as you are sure you have stopped the rust on the underneath part - maybe wire brush it off and hit it with rust converter front & rear.
Holy sh** are you good. I will never complain about the rust that was on my plymouth again. You are doing an amazing job on that car--good job.
thanks again and brain i like that color thats sweet cut both sections out now i left some extra metal on the car so i can attach to it i have to gring clean the work area and fitthe new piece in place the new panel is thinner then the metal of the body along the edge the door closes on so i left a strip of the donor body one the edge and grinded it down so now i have a place to spot weld too if that makes any sense to ya
Good work, glad to hear you're back an at it. Let me know if you need a hand or someone to come and cause distraction.....
i think im going to need professional help with the lower sections of the doors but here you can see the top of the patch with some of the weld grinded down and door in place to check alignment heres how it would look if i just grindedsome of the weld down and door gap looks good a better view of the door clearance
now patching lower section do iput the all metal filler on bare metal or primer first i don't remember
