I agree with pasadenahotrod, it may not be done in the style that I might do it, but it cetainly is well done in a solid "drive me" hot rod fashion. Congrats on a job well done. The differences is what keeps this hobby interesting. Joe

Well, after a one year break, 10 months of which was to do a customer car... (long story...) 2 months more to detox and recover, I am getting back to the 47 this week. Working on the front clip the end of this week. MAN is that gonna feel good. Doing a 35 Chevy this winter too.... I'll post some photos as I go, of course.

I always liked the 46-8 cars.
    we have had one forever.
Are you going with two piece windshield or one peace?
I went one piece in the ford we have now.I got it from a place called dannys window.Real nice people, and a great price.(no I don't work for them)
If you want P/S is is real easy to do with the axle you have.
I used a GM box and an adapter from speedway.it works good
I see you have the manifold(exhaust) to make it work. The pipe needs to come forward then bend back, but it looks like you are all set.
Irene drove it most of the summer as I had my hips replaced and could not drive for most of the summer, and it sure made it nice for her to wheel it around.
Your car looks great, you will enjoy it i'm sure

Hey 48Ford. Thanks for the comments! Going withthe one piece windshield. Went round and round about it but that is where I landed. Thanks for the ref to Danny's... I'll look them up. Where are they located? IT steers good just as is so I'llprobably stick with the manual box. Upgrades later are always fun of course. Plan to keep this one forever so I know I'll be tweaking through the years.

Hope you are getting around better now. Great that Irene could enjoy yours though. Thats cool. My wife (Becky) is pumped about this car. She can;t wait for me to get it done. Hope she'll let me drive it once in a while! :)

Thanks for the encouragement. Love the HAMB!

Glad to see you are back at it Mike.
Hope you have better luck with lining up your hood then I did, those hinges are a bitch. I did put a help section up in the Fat Fords from 1935-1948 social groupif you need any help with it. I think you have played with them before so it's probably old news to you.
Keep on it this time and get it on the road, then work on the Chevy.
Good luck and keep us posted.

    Hey 416Ford!
Good to hear from you. Yeah, those hoods are miserable. I've already had mine on, I bolted everything on several times during the fabrication process. But if I run into a snag I'll be sure to let you know! Gotta catch up with you one of these days...

Well....... lets see the finished product, it's been two months and mine is going nowhere so I need to see how this is supposed to work.
If mine keeps dragging out I am going to load it on a trailer and park it in YOUR drive way (To paint not keep:D).

Hey guys, thanks for the comments!

416Ford, mine has gone nowhere too. I've been working tremendous hours the last couple months. Did manage to get one fender done on the 35 Chevy... but haven't had time to get to the front clip for mine. Hopefully in a week or so I will be back on it.

I'm out again this year. Money is always an issue so I will just have to live vicariously threw you guys.

I need to learn how to do bodywork so my car look as nice as your cars do. Been dinking around on the drivers doors for two months now and they are still not ready(if pracite makes perfect, ths must not be practicing).

I refuse to just put it together and tear it back apart again to paint so till it's ready I will sit and watch the nice work you guys do.

  26. looks good! hope to see you around at some shows when it's finished

Thanks I will give you some history on my 47 . I bought my car some what bone stock .I Sold the flat head but kept the top loader 3 speed trans and banjo rear ( for now ) Put a small block chevy out of a 65 chevelle, redid the stock brakes with a 1970 mustang master cylinder .new hoses and lines .Also to keep the traditional theme going I ran new 2 inch exhaust out the back of the car but I put two inch dump tubes out the bottom of the front fenders.Did some custom pipework to get the exhaust around the stock stearing box .So here are some pics of the progress

I plan a front disc brake setup and a front and rear shock kit from pete and jakes depends on the cash .thats always the problem ...:)

Hey thanks Tromollo! I enjoyed the story and the pics. You are heading the same way I did with mine, kinda retro modern! LOL Not really, but don;t know what else to call it. I guess I should just call it MINE and forget labels.

Your exhaust mod around the box is the same as mine. REALLY like your car. It inspires me. Thanks.

I need to be following this. Not only do I really like fastback Fords, but there aren't many of us from Caro with old cars.
