Is it a 48 Car engine and trans, 59A and sideshift closed drive box
OR a 48 Pickup engine and trans, 8BA and topshift open drive box?

    Rebuilt? One or both?
    Used and running or not?
    Stuck and noisy or not?

So many questions, so little information.

I think all these "what's it worth?" post should be closed and deleted. It's a not for profit hobby-or should be. There--I said it!

only worth what someone is willing to pay. do a search here and online for Ford Flathead motor For Sale (even if old ad, get an idea of value). online saw a Big flathead Lincoln w/trans for $300-another Ford for $7500

There are too many variables when it comes to a motor that doesn't run but turns over.
The last few flatheads I've bought were $150 and $100 complete.
There is no way to find out if the block is cracked without tearing the who motor down and having it pressure tested and mag'd.....................unless it was verified that it had a 4" Merc crank that is the most I would pay, even if someone Said It Was Rebuilt, unless you have some proof.
If the distributor comes out the front of the motor just above the balancer, it is a 59 series motor (48 and earlier), if the distributor comes out the drivers side and points up is is probably a 49 and newer........or 8BA type. If the motor has a built in bellhousing it is probably a 48 and earlier, if the bellhousing is bolted to the back of the block like a SBC/SBF then it is an 8BA or 49 and later motor.

    IMHO
