So ive been searching for a "new" project for a few months, mostly out of state stuff, including some on here. my problem has been atleast in my area stuff is either way too rusted out or way to expensive sometimes both the market has changed drastically here as well as the area in the last 5 years. My go to yard for old cars is now a hospital I think idk where all the cars went anyways. Ten years ago when I was 15 I found a car in the woods at another of my spots . It was either a 47 or 48 ford I believe from what I could tell at the time. There wasn't much left of the body. it did however have an offenhauser adapter with a pre 57 Buick nailhead,"built in bellhousing" attached to its stock trans and a roll bar made of what looked like pluming pipe as it was threaded at the ends and very crudely welded. I was just told today its still there. my question is, the buick had a 2 barrel carb an odd choice to have on a race car. I know most here have said the ****** wont hold long and maybe thats when it was parked idk but does the 2 barrel make it fit any to a cl*** I don't know existed, or was it just the cheapest thing they could throw together and race back then? any ideas? worth fixing up?

From the late 50s to mid 60s The Sportsman cl*** cars that raced in your area did so with a 2 barrel carb.. Modifieds open induction in the south fla area.

thanks that's awesome, exactly what I was looking for. like I said the last time I saw it was 10 years ago but im going back hopefully this weekend now that i know its still there. this time i will take pics and hopefully the car. im going to talk money with the guy. but the car will have to be dis***embled to remove it. and will have to be carried by hand for atleast a mile because of its location. my plan involves some friends and bamboo poles and believe me i will take lots of pictures if that's what it comes to!

well this search ends in sadness, a friend had reported the cars were still there but the particular one i was looking for had been towed and presumably crushed by a junkyard by a neighbor during a property line dispute. the owner of the car informed me but mentioned, it wasn't much of a loss anyways as that wasn't the engine it came with originally anyways. he had no idea why i wanted it or was so upset. still had alot of cool stuff though hemi's dodge and Chrysler, some early 389s nail-heads and a bunch of flatheads. although disappointed i did grab a couple of aftermarket 3 spd shifters ones a hurst indy for what i think is a 60's three speed any idea if it fits anything else? and a no name that looks similar but was just laying around so idk for sure what its off of
