I just picked up a 48 Ford truck granny low 4 speed trans last weekend at a garage sale thinking it may prove useful in my pending Av8 build. Don't really know anything about it, but was wondering if maybe just the top 3 speeds are similar/interchangeable with a set from a 40 - 48 car trans? I also have a complete 35 car trans and a complete model A trans. Would it be possible to fill the 35 trans with the top 3 gears from the 48 truck trans? I may just be dreaming here, but if anyone has info on this or knows of a thread detailing definitive early ford trans parts interchange I would really appreciate it.

I drove a 46 Ford 3/4 ton pick up for Republic Van Lines garage many years ago which had a 4 speed. The 4 speed had no syncros at all. Double clutch was the rule of the day. Good luck with it.

Just use your '35 trans...vastly better.
