Morning ladies and gents. I picked up this old Zephyr engine a couple three years ago, and took parts of it off, then used it as a coffee table, Christmas tree, and overall apartment decoration for a while.

I got bored yesterday and decided to take the valves out and get to work on it, so here's a build thread that I'll hopefully keep up with while I put her back together.

Worth??? To anyone besides a serious Lincoln collector or fan, little more than their weight in s**** iron. They are the worst of a Ford flathead V8 with 4 more cylinders added on. Tiny (Siamese) intake and exhaust ports that don't breath well, heavy, tend to overheat, only 4 main bearings, very small bore, bad aftermarket support, very expensive parts, etc. That said, built up and dressed out they are cool as Hell.

I am sure H&H has north of $25k into this one.

Engines released to the public 1936 ... repair manual issued 1938 ... time in between spent trying to figure out how to fix the fiasco they created.
That shiny one in the picture - how much belt contact on a blower pulley does it take to actually turn that churn ?

  5. Same question I had. If looks makes horsepower, that one is a winner!

HA! Like most hot rods and parts, they cost more than they're worth.

I got the rest of the valves out last night. Like I said, slowly working... The old pry bar valve tool didn't work on a few of them due to spring binding issues, so I used a clamp type compressor so I could get the guides down to pull the retainers. It's a pretty slick setup when they come out like that.

It's a big job working on all those valves-there's SO Many of them!

Dad rebuilt one for his Continental. I was hoping he would build his extra motor for a hot rod with a Model A body that made it look like a pup. But he was tired of working on Lincoln stuff so he traded the extra V-12 for this Model A doodle bug.

e52aac1bfd317b2e647301fbf351cbe7.jpg I guess the reason I asked about the price is because I know a guy with three v12 blocks. Also complete v12 engine for $100. I was thinking of using a v12 block as a coffee table with a piece of gl*** on top.

Yep. $100 for a custom coffee table material is a good deal. Bad part is it will take 4 large friends to move it.
