I have a 49-50 Merc flywheel on the back of my flathead with the 6 evenly spaced holes. From one home directly across to the flywheel to the other is about 11 and 3/4.

I'm going to a 39 Trans converted to open driveshaft with an inch and 3/8 input shaft.

I heard rather than finding an original 49 or 50 pressure plate that certain years Chevy might work (gasp!!!). Can anyone help with some info.

I have fussed with these a lot & haven't found a chevy pressure that would work.
A '49-'50 Merc pressure plate can be sourced from Fort Wayne Clutch.

  3. There was a thread a while back that had a late Ford Mustang PP that worked. I believe Krylon32 checked it out for his T5 kit. Search under his handle.

I'm running a diaphragm with the '49-'53 Merc B&B bolt spacing and small 1" input. The clutch came from our local South Bend Clutch and is a Chevy Camaro V8 replacement. If you have a clutch re builder near by, just take the B&B and match the finger height and T/O bearing size to a diaphragm, or....order one from Centerforce that is designed for the big 1 3/8" input and Merc/B&B bolt pattern.
Below is the Centerforce straight finger diaphragm for the big input Fords/Mercs.
