Is there a reason for the abrupt shape to the fender wells?
I know the duct for fresh air is there, but even on nice customs like the photo, they aren't finished off or extended to the firewall. Why is that?

    so, apparently, no reason?

  3. I guess to fit the flaps to shut off fresh air.
    I’ve seen em extended.
    I’m leaving mine alone.

    for now

Hadn't thought of extending them. But now that you mention it...

Well, I'd have to look at mine, but with hood down, where are the hinges? Could be clearance issue?

so, I found out that it is needed for the hood hinges. And if you even change the shape of the wheel well inside, the hood won't close...

Some clearance of the hood hinges can be gained by reversing them. Flip them over and swap sides. There will be some additional clearance between the hood hinge and the inner fender. If you lower a Merc so it's about as low as you can get it in stock configuration, some of the inner fender will need to be trimmed because the tire will come in contact with the inner fender.
