I am working on a 49 ford woodie that will be sitting pretty low with a fatmans front clip, I ordered the jamco frame mount m/c booster combo but I don't like how low its hanging under the car, a good speed bump might destroy it, what firewall mount units are you guys using, the universal type? I don't see any specially made for these cars. thanks for any help.
I used a universal mount/pedal on the shoebox in the avatar - has to bend the pedal a little to go around the column. If you are careful you can fit an 8" tandem booster keeping the original cold air vents...... Car was originally built with a 7" tandem booster- not big enough - with a little messaging got the 8" to fit. I think the universal mount/ pedal came from Southern Rods - but there are a lot around...
ok thanks, you can get them for the chevys but haven't found any made for the fords, and there are a lot of slammed shoeboxes out there with power brakes so I guess the universals is what they use.
Take a look at a '52-'56 Ford pedal assembly and see if it's close enough to work on your shoebox. The '52-'56 pedal assembly fits '40-'47 Ford trucks like it was custom made for them.
I got everything from a 94 Jeep Cherokee at the u-pull-it. And I mean every thing. The proportioning valve and lines, the master cylinder, the power brake booster and the complete hanging brake pedal assembly with brake light switch. 3 years later and the master cylinder and booster are still working well. I have many ol cars and this one has the best brakes of all. The brake arm hanged down too much so I bent it over and put the Ford pad on it and it lines up very well with the clutch pedal. I put disc brakes on the front but dont use Scarebirds kit. It doesnt fit without grinding.
Yeah, finding a good junkyard part works well also - get all the parts you can from the doner car - just make sure the doner cars dash mounting angle matches your car- straight vertical in the case of your Box. Parts are usually in good shape-protected environment and low wear. Unfortunately, in our neck of the woods old cars in junkyards are a thing of the past- sold for scrap years ago.
Sorry for bringing this thread back, but did you keep the stock clutch pedal, or did you get the clutch pedal from the Jeep as well?
