Let me just throw another motor/trans option out there. My 48 Plymouth coupe has a 3.9 V6 out of a Dakota with an AX 15 5 speed. Its a great step between a built up flathead 6 and a stock 318.

That V6 fits very easily (is shorter then the flathead 6 so it allows movement to clear the factory steering column), has more stock HP then a built up flathead 6, has the power to run on the Interstate with the traffic, and the 5 speed makes it fun. The car is quick enough I feel like I have a fast, fun car, but not fast enough to get me in trouble (that is a good combo for me). With 3:55 rear gears and 225 75 R 15 tires pulls 17 mpg in town, and 22 mpg @ 70, while having the same reliability as a 318. The early 3.9 had a carb, the later Magnum 3.9s had 20+ more factory HP then the early versions. The down side is there are very few speed parts available.

My chopped 50 Chrysler Windsor project. (for sale).

S10 subframe, Cavalier power steering rack, slant six.

I was going hard on it for a while but between the two chopped 56 F100's and the Dragmaster project I lost interest in this one.

I love your car. If you ever consider selling it, I'd love to own it. One of my favorite customs of all time.

Had a 49, sold it to my daughter and son in law. Loved that car. This thread has me thinking about another one.
