Thanks guys. Been a long time coming. Car overall is a pretty mild custom. Really excited to have progress! We just have to buff the underside of the hood and inner fenders and paint dash, then the body will finally get shiny!

gemnewt, I think you're referring to mine? Yes, chassis engineering. Obviously haven't drove it yet but install was nice.

I notice in this pic that the original cross member has been cut, is this a must to install a modern automatic such as a 700R or 4L60?

billybadass- main thing to trim would be the vertical braces on firewall. Take em off. You can see in everyones pics how we trim the lower inside body mount. How much depends on your exhaust plans. Tranny cross member can be done many ways with kits like CE and others or cut it out and build your own. Gsport has a pretty simple solution in his pic. You can use your stock radiator or have it re-cored to fit your cooling needs. A small block is very easy to install in these cars. Hope this helps.

  29. I know this thread is older than the hills at this point, but its actually perfect for what I need at the moment. I am wondering if there are any issues to be aware of when removing the vertical ribs in the firewall? I know tons of people have done it, but I have to also assume that engineers at Chevy weren't just adding extra stiffening braces for fun. Are you guys adding anything on the inside to reinforce or is this just not an issue? Any incite would be appreciated!
    Thanks
