49-54 Chevy Spindles on an A Axle?

I bought a set of 50 Chevy spindles, backing plates, hubs, and drums from a guy, and he told me that although it sounds weird, Speedway sells a spacer to put 49-54 Chevy spindles on a model a axle. Is there any truth to this? He said you just buy an 8 dollar spacer and it will work. I called Speedway and they don't know what im talking about. So I figured i'd ask you guys if you had any clue.
