I havent been able to find adjustable or fixed rate front drag shocks for my 50 pontiac. Does anyone lnow of a source? Im thinking of making bottom adapter plates to use 55 and up shocks.

That’s what I did for my 64 Fairlane, none were listed so I used later lower mount’s. I know it’s not a 50 Pontiac but you gotta do what you Gotta do.

Just so happens the drag socks on my 81 malibu are the same stroke but they were a bottom eye bar not a stem. They are 3way adjustable competition engineering shocks model 2600.

I removed the stem, turned a new eye sleeve .625 OD x .5 ID x 1.40 and put it in the rubber eye bushing. Welded up a clevis bracket (which you can buy) and welded a 3/8 stud to it. The assembly was 3/8 longer than stock. So I cut 3/8 off the bottom umbrella mounting bracket and welded in a annular ring. Final dimensions were the same as stock.

rotated the clevis to pivot in the same plane as the lower control arm and locked it down.
