commercially available, made by a company called Clumatune. It comes with a 80mm throttle body and the fuel rails etc. uses LS1 injectors. And as a bonus the starter is no longer buried. Suits my needs being forward facing.

been having a little fun with my scroller, going to be buried under the last coat of clear. this will be the centre board and at the back of the truck. Im planning on a little more subtle striping on the front of the hood when the trucks done.

been busy on the ol cabover. I've done a lot of fiddly stuff and got my rear timber boards all cut and mounted. now they can stay in place awhile before sanding and final coats of epoxy clear. Need a little tuning here and there.
And now finally im starting to build the bucks so the rear fenders can be made, together with my eldest son. Getting exciting to finally be at this stage. Happy new year guys, lets hope for a better 2021.

Looking good!!! I REALLY like the bucks... Can't wait to see the progress on those... Will the finished product be removable to change the tire?

The rear fenders will be one piece, no wheel opening, so yes they will be removable. Not sure how just yet, maybe Dzus fasteners or similar. My bead roller won't do the beads I need for the running boards, and is one of the few things I've farmed out, but I think they will really pull together the look im going for.
Im hoping 2021 MIGHT be the year this gets finished, ill give it a good try and see how far I get.
Ive bought the paint for the frame etc, that must mean something.......

Still working away at the seemingly endless list of stuff to do......BUT i think I might be getting closer.
Ive now bought a couple of blocking hammers and im going to try making the rear fenders myself, my son just has to much on his plate right now, plus he's five or so hours drive away too.
Bought more parts and pieces too, im going to go with a water/methanol injection system to lower combustion temps and so I can run more boost and timing. Doing fuel system stuff, pump, lines, regulator etc at the moment.
    Seemingly endless..........

I'd love to see pics as you develop the fenders... essentially your own injection system? Not sure if you're ambitious or just plain nuts! :D

    Just mostly nuts I think.....
I will put pics up as I attempt to do the rear fenders, time will tell. If only I had some of Joyfleas metal shaping talent.

What ECU will you be driving the engine with?

I've ben down the 1UZ chasing power route and certainly won't go there again.

running a megasquirt ms3pro, should be able to handle my goals for this build.
care to expand a little on your experiences? Any concerns I have are probably more with the auto.....

I managed to wring 650HP out of one at the wheels.

Cost $45,000 Aussie Dollars to build. The best of everything.

I ran a twin screw supercharger at 21.5psi with external water to air intercooling and meth injection. I think I would have managed another 150hp with turbos.

Sold it after 1,000k's for $4,500 as it was using 45litres per 100k ( that's a little over 5mpg) so couldn't go anywhere without constantly filling up.

Fun whilst I had it but if I wanted big power I'd go LS3 as I have in another vehicle

wow, thats really a big effort..... and a lot of dollars. Im not looking for big numbers but rather really capable and user friendly on the road and trips. I fully intend to drive this thing a lot.
The twin turbos was my sons initial suggestion so I did some research and thought thats a possibility, then of course im left to forge ahead on my own...... but ill get there

By choice I would run an LS1,2 or 3 as the 1UZ is down on torque.

My vehicle weighs 1850kg and it isn't the fastest particularly on hills.

I have another vehicle (a small CEO) with an LS3 same weight and it's a rocket ship by comparison. If lifting front wheels on the street is rocket ship territory, than this is in it. Oh and 17litres per 100K (17 mpg for imperial folk).

running boards are now done and I've started on a rear panel, still need to figure out license plate placement and lighting. im really pleased with the running boards, they are just what I had envisaged.
other than that, just been trying to finish all the little odds and ends, fuel lines etc before teardown for finish welding and paint.
the 9inch is currently being rebuilt also, ill have that back in a few weeks I hope.
    Getting ever closer......

made in several seperate pieces then tig welded and the welds dressed. They pretty much mirror the small original front running boards. Next up is the rear fenders.....

besides the 9 inch being away for a rebuild including a trutrak, new gear set, bearings, yoke etc etc I have made a few more panels and a decoesque rear plate surround. The small round holes are for the plate lights. Im starting to gather parts and tools for the wiring eventually to come. And have changed from timber to wire for the rear fender bucks, pics soon I hope. Then, FINALLY, dis***embly for finish welding/paint etc before FINAL ***embly, wiring, upholstery, gl*** etc.

finally back, but not a lot to report sadly. the rebuild on the 9inch was an interesting adventure, finally got it and the tail shaft back to find my axles didn't fit and the tail shaft made to short. DANG so 28 spline centre in 31 spline boxes was the excuse, and sorry about the tail shaft, we don't know what happened there.
BUT, they did resolve it all and paid all the shipping both ways. So I consoled myself by buying a cast fake quickchange cover.
Lots of other small stuff done. I wanted a right hand fender step to match the original left one, and my son said no problem, ill make you one. Yeah, except he didn't, and had it almost two years. Finally got it back and made one myself, not perfect but at least I now have one.
Started on the rear fenders, so far I've turned perfectly good sheet metal into s**** sheet metal LOL But ill continue trying till I get there. Sent the 4 speed auto trans away for a performance rebuild So plenty of stuff happening, but not a lot happening if you know what I mean. Building a hotrod COE isn't for quitters thats for sure. LOL
Ill get some pictures up in a day or two.

So, I thought it might be time for an update.
Finally added the last section of my garage extension, delayed because of council permission. So all my tools and fabrication equipment is now in one area and I’m loving the new look and feel of it almost as much as it’s ease of being able to do stuff. Painting all the floors made a big difference too. And my wife upholstery section is better organised as well.

as for my COE, it’s steadily progressing too, going to do the rear fenders late January early February together with my friend Gary who did the running boards. In aluminium no less, it was just above my skill level even tho I tried multiple times.
Lots of other small fiddely jobs done. Finished engine cover, dash additional gauges, remote idle air control valve, rebuilt the power steering pump etc etc. auto trans is fully rebuilt.
Anyway I’ll keep plugging away, I’m hoping 2023 will at least see it running even if not fully finished.
