I need some photos of your stock arm rest in 2 door models. I have ***umed the rest on the front doors have an opening behind them to pull the door shut from. The rear on Coups may be a solid top just to do as described, rest your arm on. I'm working on a car with all 4 that are solid, no opening as is the normal (I think) for the front. This project came to me in pieces and all 4 are from different cars. I have photos of a 50 sedan I did several years back and the door units have the finger holes. Who can help me clear this up?
Thank you. Didn't show up when I did a search. Threw me a curve. 50 and 51 both are open between the panel and armrest.
Scroll this..no holes anywhere..not sure what you are talking about.. https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/The-Interior/
Let me see if I can clear this wording up just a bit. I did say "finger holes". That should have been opening for your fingers I guess. Sounds like 49 Guy is thinking individual finger holes. Not the case. His "Armrest's" in his 49 as well as the photo posted by J. A. Miller are correct for 49 only. It's just an arm rest. In 50 it went to what I will now call a Door Pull in that it was relocated forward just a bit and is open so you can grab it and pull the door shut. Ford seems to have done this in 1950 and stayed there into the 60's. I expected to see two arm rests and 2 door pulls and got confused. Now everything is clear as Mud and all is well here at the ranch. Thanks for all the input and to see what I thought I should of had in a "Door Pull", see posted photo.
Late to the party as always and by now I imagine you have what you need but I used the handles from Dennis Carpenter. Door arm rest 49 - 51 car This is with them installed in our wagon.
My 51 Bus Cpe did not come with an arm rest/door pull, had solid door panel with SS mid trim... Only window crank and door unlock handle. I believe [remember] the doors had the holes for the arm rests in two places. I made/moved things around a bit.
