Customs 49 Ford truck full custom. Updated info

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by anthony myrick, Sep 15, 2023.

  1. Was asked to look at car for a friend. The husband collected/built cars. The widow is thinning the herd. This truck was tucked away in a corner. Has some 70s pieces/updates but looks to maybe be an older build.
She didn’t know anything about it. It was purchased built like this

    All hood trim is shaved
Twin antennas in one fender. Typical caddy lights. Filled tailgate.

wood lined bed with a cover. IMG_3867.jpeg
    Neat overhead console

Dying to see this in all its glory!
I imagined the tail would have been more heavily worked. Interior is killer!

  8. She isn’t sure on value. I’m not shopping. Just thought it was cool.
Shes going to do some thinking and we’re planning to visit again next week.
This is the car I went to look at for a friend.
    IMG_3875.jpeg IMG_3873.jpeg IMG_3872.jpeg
seems to be very solid. Typical blisters in a few spots. Looks like a 289 still sporting its gen.
Has what looks like dealer added air.
    Has slave assist power steering

  9. Pile of work in that truck, it deserves to be driven again

  10. Yep. It’s showing its age. Normal heavy primmer/filler cracks.
But this thing would probably clean up well.
    That Buick engine. Dang.

  13. Sure. I’m project poor. Got about 5 on going.
Plus storage is an issue. That thing dont need to sit outside much.
I’d rather help her find an owner that thinks it’s as cool as she does.
And would keep it close to as found.

That truck has many Bill Cushenbery Matador touches such as the dashboard and fender coves.

  19. We had a local custom guy. A Jersey transplant. He built stuff like this. Can’t remember his name but he was in the KKOA scene. He passed but I was gonna check with one of his friends if he knows any history on the truck
The widow really doesn’t know, said her husband bought and sold regularly

That Galaxie would be sharp if you took off the park bench it backed into.
Truck is pretty wild. Headlights look goofy, but the rest is ok.
Not a fan of quad lights on vehicles that came with singles.

    Drop the rear a tad.

  27. Not sure. I’m checking
    Found it.

I'd love to see what this truck looks like outside with the dirt washed off. I can't pin down an era on it, but it looks like it's pretty intact from it's original build, no obvious later stuff added. Very cool, and hoping it finds a home with someone who won't change it all around.
