hello every one. Im new. I have always drag raced and built prostreet cars. i have put alot of old mopars back on the road. im wanting to do something new. i love cars. But i have been seeing cars like these and they have grown on me alot. (rat rods)I just bought a good old 49 hudson it realy caught my eye. it looked like the roof was chopped from the factory. the motor and trans was pulled allready. i have three motor choices a 361 383 or a poly 318. one of those im going to use. But my question is what do you think i should do with the car? I was thinking flat black with the full rim moon disks and lowering it? Maybe get a visor? its complete minus a hood ornament. just wanting some feedback thank you.

I never swapped engines in my Hudson, but the 383 sounds like a good choice. You should have no problems lengthwise but I have heard that engine room width is more limited than you would think. Be sure to measure between the diagonal frame-to-firewall braces. Also, if I remember correctly, the front crossmember is fairly massive and the tie rod assembly is behind it; so you want to watch out for oil pan interference. Good luck.

By the way, were the engine and transmission pulled before you got it, or do you still have them?
