Ive been looking through the archives and got bits and pieces of my problem but havent found anything that really helps. Ive got a 49 merc. It has the old brake system on it drums all around and no pwoer booster. I want to get disks in the front and change the old styel master to a firewall mounted vacuum booster and a dual master . I would prefer to get the parts from the junkyard but if there aftermarket kits out there that would work also. Has anyone changed their whole system like i want to and how did you do it. And any web sights that could help me in my quest would be greatly appreciated.:D

Master power brakes does not make a fire wall mount system for '49-'51 Merc.
They have this under floor system which I have on mine with drum/drum.(more than adequate):) :D

You like? I saw that, unsure of it tho...I am switching mine over to discs most likely, and the thought of a firewall mount being seen under the hood is yukky. The booster is just small so I wasnt sure of how much ***ist it offered.

Mudtruck..there is no easy way out on Merc discs. Every kit I see the spindles have to be sent out to be machined, such and such. Master power, fat man fabrication, jamco suspension...just a few places that have Merc conversion kits.

I like. 100% better than stock using drum/drum.
Takes a little inginuity to install (cutting and fitting).
Worst part is having to relocate left exhaust pipe.
Requires a remote filler unless you want to cut a hole in the floor. Booster hangs down 1-1/2 to 2" below frame.

I cant srink the picture enough to post it. But My son cut the firewall piece that held the brake pedal ***y with booster out of a 65 Cad and welded it into the firewall of My 49 Merc then plumber the front line to the fr brakes and the rear to the rear. Still use the stock drums got them turned and put on new shoes works killer. PM Me yer e mail ill send ya a few pics. FEDER
